There are many ways to give your time, and none of them require special skills. Just a willingness to show up and help.
Complete puzzles, split them into quadrants, and place sections into individual zip-lock bags for easier use during therapy sessions. This helps keep anxiety and frustration low by allowing youth to work through puzzles at a manageable pace.
Assemble food kits by placing nonperishable items, including pasta, jarred sauce, canned mushrooms, and parmesan cheese, into a grocery bag along with a recipe card. This teaches a new life skill while providing nourishment to youth and their families in a dignified, shame-free way.
Host your own fundraiser, a bake sale, lemonade stand, or jewelry sale, and donate the proceeds to OTTP-NorCal. Funds go toward transportation, job interview attire, and grocery gift cards for youth and families who need them most.
Collect magazines from friends, neighbors, or through social media and donate them to OTTP. We especially need magazines geared toward teens and men, and those representing a diverse range of races and ethnicities. Magazines are used to create vision boards and collages that help youth set healthy goals for their futures.
These are just a few examples of how you can get involved. Reach out at development@ottp-sf.org to learn more.
The boys team charity Hacienda Chapter came together to assemble over 50 food kits, turning hours of planning and volunteering into tangible support for OTTP youth and families facing food insecurity. Their dedication is a powerful reminder of what a community can accomplish when it shows up for young people.
When OTTP-NorCal first moved into our Oakland space, the LDS Church volunteered their time to paint and transform the entire location, creating a welcoming, vibrant environment for the youth and staff who would call it home.
As longtime supporters of OTTP, VMware has helped ensure our youth experience joy and care during the holidays, creating carefully wrapped gifts that brighten the season and show each young person they are seen and valued.
